Politico reports that beyond his troubles with Catholics, Trump is also fading with white evangelical Protestants as well. Trump's problems start with the fact that while most Americans know Joe Biden is Catholics, 63% of Americans don't see Trump as particularly religious.
Trump campaign operatives fear even a small decline for him with white evangelicals could deal a fatal blow to his re-election chances, as these voters are needed to compensate for declining support elsewhere. Trump has suffered a double digit decline in Catholic support and the campaign's promised "Catholics for Trump" initiative has yet to get off the ground after two promised launchings have been cancelled.
