Gorsuch Writes Opinion on Major Supreme Court Case

Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch

Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the majority opinion in an important Supreme Court decision today regarding employment discrimination against LGBT workers.  Gorsuch and the Majority ruled in favor of LGBT rights. 

The case was an interesting legal one and readers here can find ample information elsewhere as to the details and arguments.  The issue to be raised here is that we were told by social conservative organizations that Catholics must support Gorsuch's nomination and must support Trump because of social conservative issues.  The whole "pro-life" Establishment lined up behind Gorsuch.

The lesson here is that no one knows how a judge may rule and no one can tell another person they must support a judge's nomination or the nominator of judges because of a position they are predicted to take.  It is a matter for each Catholic's private judgment.  I expect we will return to this topic later in the year.
